Thacher's track and field athletes enjoy the most scenic of venues for their practices and meets. Against the backdrop of Nordhoff Ridge and a sweeping view of the Ojai Valley, the Toads compete in all the usual high school events.
Each spring, the team travels to invitational events such as the Malibu Invitational, the Russell Cup, and Ventura County Championships.
It's hard to say if it is the hilly terrain we train on, the strength of the Ojai sun, or just something in the Thacher water, but track and field athletes have enjoyed many successes in recent years. The Toads typically send a host of qualifying athletes into the post-season to compete at the league and divisional levels. Recently, our alumni have gone on to compete at Bowdoin, Colorado College, and Vassar.

Coach DelVecchio has taken countless Thacher teams to the cross country state championships in Fresno, including two that placed second in division 5. Additionally, Coach DelVecchio played a prominent role in coaching a track athlete who won the 2022 state championship in the 800, a first-ever for the Toads.
