“How can I afford it?” is often the first question on a family’s mind when they begin to think about boarding school. At Thacher, we use financial aid as a bridge to make this experience available to students from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. This estimator is offered as a first step in understanding if your family might qualify for aid, but we encourage you to contact our office with any questions that arise. We’re here to help!

Ten Installments
Tuition paid monthly between July 1 - April 1 -
Two Installments
Two-thirds of tuition paid by August 1; balance by December 15 -
One Installment
Tuition paid in full on August 1
Additional Costs
Thacher doesn’t charge fees beyond tuition, but families can expect to face approximately $1,500 in additional costs for camping and riding gear, books, and other academic supplies.
The Olympus Fund
For families who receive significant financial aid at Thacher (typically 90 percent of tuition or more), the Olympus Fund is used to offset the cost of books, student and parent travel, camping and riding gear, health insurance, and other incidental costs.
