The mass adoption of LEDs has allowed our species to drive back the night, flooding previously dark spaces with light. Our presentation explores how this increased illuminance has impacted the health and safety of various species, including migratory birds, turtles, and humans. We also examine the steps that can be taken at Thacher and in Ojai to reduce the light pollution that our community produces.
